The sexual response cycle describes the changes that occur in the body as men and women become sexually aroused. The sexual response consist of four phases which are as followed: Excitement Phase, Plateau Phase, Orgasmic Phase, and Resolution Phase. With men and women and each of these phases they differ, but some are not different and can be the same. A couple thing that can be mentioned with the sexual response cycle are the components that makes up the sexual response cycle which are: vasocongestion and myotonia. The component that I am mentioning first is vasocongestion. Vasocongestion is swelling of genital tissue with blood which consist of the genitals, breast, and earlobes. Vasocongestion happens to both men and women. Myotonia is muscle tension. This is what causes facial grimaces, hand and feet spasms, and the spasms of orgasm. It is impossible to have sexual intercourse without the two components. Now I am going to get into the phases and see how they fit in and what they do to the body. The Excitement Phase is the initial phase, which serves as a primer for the following phases. This phase happens to both men and women. With the men, the genitals become ready for sexual intercourse. With men an erection occurs and the scrotal skin becomes less baggy and the testes become larger than normal. With women, the clitoris swells and becomes flat causing the vaginal
