25 Jan 2009 Lesson 7, Assn 1 Case Exercise for “ Lincoln Park Redevelopment Project” Answer the following questions concerning the case "‘Lincoln Park Redevelopment Project." (These questions are also found on page 145 of the text.) 1. How well did Clarke prepare for this meeting? What should she have done differently? Specifically, what has Clarke done to set herself up for failure? Where and how has communication broken down in this case, both before and during the meeting? Clarke made several errors in preparation for this meeting. The errors and their remedies are as follows: 1. No clear agenda in advance – an e-mail the day before a landmark meeting gives hardly enough time for participants to know what is going on. It can be seen as rude and inconsiderate of their time. Many were unaware of the e-mail and had to read it during the meeting, which ultimately left Clarke’s words on deaf ears. 2. Lack of feedback from key participants – she went off the assumption that all involved in the meeting would know what she was talking about and would be okay with the minor revisions in the project. She did not know anything about the developers’ concerns and also did not take into
