What I learned By: Abigail Rex I learned a lot about the ocean in doing this research paper. About its safety, our understanding, the animals that live in it, and the importance of the ocean. I now know that we need to keep our oceans safe in order to help keep our Earth safe. How do we know the ocean is safe? How do we know that we can help protect our ocean? To begin, its safety. Pollution is one of the main reasons why the ocean is not safe. Pollution effects the air and causes the ocean to have bad water. Making it hard for animals to live in it. Another, is trash. 4.8 million To12.7 million tons of trash is put it to the ocean each year, making it hard for marine life to survive. Michael Stocker said in his “Ocean Bioacoustics, Human-Generated Noise and Ocean Policy” in the middle of the first paragraph, said that “The extents of the damage done to the sea by human enterprise are both deep and far reaching.
