Introduction- Page 3 Quick Reference Guide 1. Name of Instructor : Dr. Sandrine Berniolles 2. Office Location : York 4030 A-3 3. Office Telephone : 858-534-6621 4. Office Hours : TBA (Refer to course syllabus) 5. CHEM 6BL Help Room Schedule : TBA (Refer to WebCT course site) 6. LAB SCHEDULE : A tentative lab schedule is provided in the course syllabus. The lab experiments have been chosen to correlate with topics covered in CHEM 6A-C. Hence, it is recommended that you use your CHEM 6 textbook as a reference. 7. REQUIRED COURSE MATERIALS & SAFETY EQUIPMENT : CHEM 6BL Online Lab Manual (available on WebCT), a “carbonized” laboratory notebook (i.e., must have a removable duplicate of each page) and a non-graphing, non-programmable scientific calculator. Chemical splash goggles must be worn in the laboratory at all times. Safety glasses do not provide splash protection and are not permitted. Long lab coats and closed shoes (front and back. No sandals permitted!) are also required. 8. ADD/DROP DEADLINE : The deadline to add or to drop a CHEM lab course without a "W", is the end of the second lab meeting during the first week of class. 9. LECTURES & EXAMS : Lecture attendance is of primary importance as many of the fundamental concepts, calculations and techniques introduced in this course will be covered primarily in lecture. Two exams will also be given during the regular lecture time in the course of the quarter (See dates on schedule provided in class syllabus). 10. LAB ATTENDANCE : Lab sections will meet only at the scheduled times. There will be no formal lab make-up sessions, so plan to use all your available time effectively. If you do, you will have plenty of time to finish all the required experiments.
