U.S. Department of Justice Civi~ Division Washington, DC 20530 ADDENDUM TO E-QIP QUICK REFERENCE GUIDE FOR THE APPLICANT Prior to logging into e-Qip, it is very important that you as the applicant read the e-Qip Quick Reference Guide for the Applicant as well as this addendum thoroughly. Please follow directions and tips as stated below. Please be sure that there are no gaps between dates, especially in your "Where you have lived", "Where you went to School", and !’Employment Activities" sections. ALL dates, street addresses and telephone numbers 5/IUST be consistent and accurate. You must list evelay paid and non-paid (volunteer/internship) employment and periods in which you have been unemployed; every school you’ve attended as well as where you have lived for the years requested (please refer to tip # 3). Failing to do so will result in you having to log back into e-Qip, making the necessary corrections, answering the yes or no questions again and printing, filling out, signing, dating and mailing new signabare fozxns. This process itself may cause a delay in your entry on duty (start date) date. You will have to provide information of residences, schools attended and employments held or unemployment periods for the past 7 or 10 years, depending on what standard form you are assigned. If you are assigned an SF-85P (students) or SF-85P+85P-S (supporting staff), you MUST go back the full 7 years from the time you log into e-Qip to start your online application. For example, if you log into e-Qip in May, you must list every residence, every school you’ve attended and every employment you’ve held or unemployment period starting May 2002-Present. If you are assigned an SF-86 (attorneys and national security positions) you must go back the full 10 years from the time you log into e-Qip. For example, if you log into e-Qip inMay, you must list every residence, every school you’ve attended and e.very employment you’ve held or unemployment period starting May 1999-Present. Your security letter will state what standard form you have been assigned. Your employment section states that you do not need to include employments before your 16 t~ birthday. If you were ! 6 and held an employment within the 7 or l 0 years you are supposed to account for, please add your employments or unemployment periods. You still have to go back the full 7 or 10 years even though the employment section states you don’t need to include employments before your 16 t~ birthday. A lot of applicants make the mistake of putting an X next to "Other" when they are unemployed studen~s. Unless you are an employed student, you need to put an X next to "Unemployment" and provide a verifier, their street address and telephone number.
