Choosing Accounting Software There are four different types (groups) that the accounting market is divided into. Entry-level (Entry): Revenue less than $5 million & up to 20 employees. Companies such as ACCPAC International, Best Software, Intuit, Microsoft Business and MYOB US. These companies have multiple programs such as Microsoft Money Small Business, Net Suite Basic, QuickBooks, One-Write Plus, Peachtree Accounting. The type of company that may use this type of software is a home small business or a small convenience store. Small to medium business (SMB): Revenue to $100 million and under 100 Employees. Companies such as ACCPAC International, Best Software, Cyma System, Open Systems, Softline Group, Softrak System, and SouthWare Innovations. These companies have multiple programs such as Peachtree Special Edition, ACCPAC Pro Series, and small Business Edition, Traverse, SouthWare Excellence Series and many more. The types of company that may use this type of program are a larger chain grocery store, larger manufacturing companies, or even larger chain restaurants. Enterprise resource planning (ERP): Revenue over $500 million and more than 500 employees. Companies such as Geac, J.D. Edwards, Lawson Software, PeopleSoft and SAP. These companies have multiple programs such as Oracle Financials, Financial Management Solutions, J.D. Edwards ERP, and many more.
