As used in thisreport, the terms “we”, “us”, “NIKE” and the “Company” refer to NIKE, Inc. and itspredecessors and subsidiaries. Nike Inc. is a leading global manufacturer and seller of sportsshoes, apparel and equipment. Their principal business activity is the design, developmentand worldwide marketing and selling of high-quality footwear, apparel, equipment, andaccessory products. Mission and Vision A company’s corporate mission statement defines the fundamental objectives of the business,especially in terms of its purpose. Nike Inc.’s corporate mission is “to bring inspiration andinnovation to every athlete in the world.” The company further states that everybody is anathlete, based on Nike founder Bill Bowerman’s statement, “If you have a body, you are anathlete.” Nike Inc.’s corporate vision is “to remain the most authentic, connected, anddistinctive brand.”Core Valuesa.“It is our nature to innovate.” The company sees innovation as one of its core organizational competencies.b.“Nike is a company.”c.“Nike is a brand.” The “swoosh” logo is instantly recognizable around the world.
