HUM/130 Week 6 Discussion Question 1 How has Christianity, a faith based on the teachings of one text, the Bible, divided into so many denominations? The religions are divided because the differences in interpretation of the words within the bible and their meanings. Many people read the bible, but it is how they perceive the meaning of this information they take in. Thus, a lot of religions have been derived from the different interpretations of. Most individuals associate with a particular religion because of personal perception, conviction, faith and opinion. People like to form and control their beliefs to fit their own needs and their own advantages. Christianity among the different denominations has not always been based on faith and some are based only on the religious laws such as the Ten Commandments. Some individuals seek the righteous path or the traditions of man. It is all personal preference. Another reason there are so many different denominations is because there are so many people that do not trust the words of the bible as being truly the Word of God. Because of this people tend to pick and choose the particular portions of the bible they wish to have faith in.
