I do not feel the death penalty should be abolished. This is a very severe punishment meant to deter others from committing similar crimes. It provides the criminals with the knowledge that committing certain crimes can result in paying the ultimate price for a crime. If by putting a person convicted of certain crimes to death stops even one other crime against an innocent then the price is worth it. But what is the value in taking say a murderer and letting them site in prison for 30 years. All they learn is that they can commit a crime and then go site in a cell with everything provided for them free of cost. There are much better uses for tax payer dollars then supporting criminals that should be given the death penalty. Also in my opinion with the death penalty available this may deter some criminals from ever starting a life of crime. This would lower the amount of prisoners we have in facilities and the cost to take care of them. What about all the cases of murders getting out on parole and them committing more murders
