Martin Luther King’s speech Martin Luther King’s speech was presented to an enormous and varied audience and I feel that King was able to address the majority of his audience in a very effective way. He used a good balance of all three means of persuasion throughout his speech. Just in the way King presents himself by speaking intelligently, compassionately and reasonably speaks in all three languages of persuasion. He also refers to other figures of credibility and authority such as Lincoln, and the words of the Constitution to use the persuasion of ethos. He speaks with respect and understanding of others points of view. He definitely appeals to pathos in a majority of his speech and the emotions of both the black and the whites by presenting both sides of the issue. He doesn’t condone or encourage violence in their quest for equality, and also recognizes that there were many whites that were sympathetic and understood the injustice of what was happening in the nation towards the blacks. He also uses very eloquent, powerful and symbolic language,
