Ashley-I think this is a very worthwhile and interesting topic. My daughter graduated last June from BYU in Communication Disorders, but started out with an interest in ASL. I remember her talking to me about this very discussion and what a hot topic it was then and still is. I have seen an increasing trend in the past few years of parents teaching their young

Unformatted text preview: children ASL as a form of communication before they are old enough to speak. This includes a couple of my nieces, and Im amazed by their ability to learn so young. It can decrease stress and anxiety in young children when they can communicate their needs before they know words. I look forward to reading what you learn in your research....
