Tami-li Negus Biology 1010 Extra Credit Assignment Monte L. Bean Museum I found the Bean Museum very interesting and it included several of the topics we have discussed in class this semester. Of course, there was the most obvious representation of Carolus Linnaeus’ work of taxonomy, or the grouping and naming of the species. The names are listed with the genus first, followed by the species. For example, Panthera tigris (Tiger), Kobus leche (Red Lechwe). There were also groups of animals that had a subspecies in their name, such as several of different species of bears. Like Ursus arctos horribilis (Grizzly Bear), Ursus arctos middendorfi (Kodiak Bear). The subspecies is used to further designate a group of species that are enough alike to be part of the same species, but are different enough to break them down further for identification. One section of the museum was broken up into several of the different ecosystems, and what the climate and environment was like and what kinds of animals and plant life occupied each of the different systems.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
