CheckPoint Implicit Association Test Due Day 5 What was the result of your IAT? Do you think that the test produced valid results in your case? My test results said that I moderately preferred Europeans to African Americans. I think that the test results were somewhat accurate. However, it seemed to be more of a brain challenge. If the test had started with Good/African American on one side and Bad/European on the other, I think my results would have been very different. Once my hands got used to pushing certain buttons to identify words and faces, it was hard to make them change (very similar to society). I wonder if this test was done with kittens and mug shots, if the results would still be the same. I think the test had more to do with your hands and brain function more than your actual feelings. I do prefer Europeans over African Americans solely because I am more familiar with the inner workings of European heritage and culture. I do not dislike African Americans, I feel very comfortable in their presence. I always have.

However, people can hide their feelings from even themselves and I dont think pushing a couple of buttons can surface those feelings. Describe other measurements sociologists utilize to calculate prejudice. The only measurement that I have ever seen used by sociologists is comparing incomes of different races and comparing educational status of said races. Chapter three lists a bar graph showing the differences in income. I think most people think that this graph represents how black men are discriminated against and given less income because of this. However, I see that white women are more discriminated than black men. I think these measurements all come down to your interpretation of them....
