Unformatted text preview: believe that this misconception is true. o Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders belong to a single “Asian American” culture. This is the farthest from the truth. I loved reading about how Filipinos are technically from the Spanish culture since they were ruled by them. It goes to show you that things are not always what they seem and assuming that all Asian American cultures are the same is just silly. Filipinos, Chinese, Japanese, etc, are rarely even similar in their cultural backgrounds. Their languages are different and their familial statuses are of different importances to each. I honestly cannot say if most people believe this misconception. I would hope that people were not so naive as to believe it. That's like saying every "White" culture is the same or every Hispanic culture. I would really hope that everyone would be open minded enough to at least see past physical appearance enough to see the differences in races and cultures....
