1. What are some differences you see between classical and contemporary art music? 2. How are these types of music perceived by the general public? 3. What have you learned so far in this course that has changed your perception of these two styles of music since before taking the course? Classical Music is viewed by the general public to be exactly all the pieces we have been listening to in class. There is no difference between time periods or styles. Classical music has a different structure than contemporary music. Contemporary music has less of a defined structure and is thought to be new and innovative. The term contemporary has also been applied to music composed after 1975. I have learned the different styles of classical music through learning about different composers. I was not clearly able to define any difference before I started the course. I have learned a lot about classical and contemporary music. Progressive vs. conservative
