Fences —Act I, Scene 4 1. What is Troy’s situation at work? -In Act I, Scene 4 we find out that Troy got called to the Commissioner’s Office because he got promoted to a driver. 2. What was Troy’s relationship to his father? -Troy didn’t have much of a relationship with his father. His father treated kids like they weren’t important to him. He only cared about himself and used his kids to work and Troy’s father beat him as well. 3. How does Troy’s relationship to his father affect his relationship to his son, Cory? -As Troy was growing up, his father never really cared for him or shows that he cared. Troy treats Cory in a similar matter with not caring and showing his affection towards him, but he shows his bittersweet relationship with him by trying to advice him to make the right decision in his life. 4. What does Troy mean when he tells Cory “don’t you strike out”? -Troy was referring to Cory arguing with him; he was basically warning him that if he
