Explores the changing frontier of nutritional sciences and provides the basis for understanding and evaluation of new nutritional information with an emphasis on allowing individuals to make healthy food/lifestyle choices. Prerequisite: NH 301 Course Objectives: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Evaluate/critique sources of nutritional information available to the general public. 2. Identify several reputable sources of nutrition information. 3. Discuss current developments and controversies in nutrition, focusing on their influence on personal health. 4. Explain the potential health effects of food additives, contaminants, and new food technologies. 5. Each quiz will be 10 points. There will be no make up quizzes but 1 quiz may be skipped or the worst quiz score dropped. The quizzes will focus on the main points of the previous class.
