The center dot actually corresponds to 4 different mesons, so there are really 16. Make a table and give the valence quark content of each state. Also specify the strangeness, charm, and isotopic spin quantum numbers. 4. POSTPONED TO NEXT WEEK! An neutrino of energy 10 GeV collides with a proton at rest producing a 9 GeV muon deflected at an angle of 0.01 radians away from the initial neutrino direction. Such a collision is used to probe the momentum distribution of down quarks in the proton. The collision takes place through the exchange of a W boson. In particular it probes down quarks with a fraction x of the proton’s momentum (viewed in a frame, such as the c.m. frame where the proton has high momentum). The purpose of this problem is to determine exactly what momentum fraction x is being probed by this collision....
