Abstract Three techniques were used to determine the unknown alkali metal. These techniques were simple weight loss, gravimetric analysis and titration. The unknown was determined to be lithium. Data Data for the masses of the weight loss, gravimetric and titration techniques are summarized in the following tables below. Table 1. The mass of the system was measured before and after the reaction was completed. In order to determine the mass of carbon dioxide produced, the ending mass was subtracted from the beginning mass.
