RES 341, Week 1 Discussion Questions 1. Look at the economic data from 1960 to 2000 listed in “US Income Trends” (See the Excel Spreadsheet in the Course Materials Newsgroup). Based on your analysis of these data and drawing from your knowledge of history, economics, and from information from the Internet: a. In which 5-year increments did these different indicators grow the fastest/slowest? b. Are any of these indicators inter-related (does one indicator impact another)? c. What economic/political/social factors are impacting these data and why? (Hint: To help with this part and have fun at the same time, watch the first 15 minutes of the movie “Miracle” about the 1980 US Hockey Team.) (Your initial response is due in the main newsgroup by the end of the day on Thursday .) 2. Go to the IBIS World Data Base. In the Key Word Search, type in Publishing Industry. A set of Industrial Classification Codes will come up. Click on one of them. It will then present you with a report you can download.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
