Hobbs, April (A) 28 August 2009 Religion 1001 Islamic Ways of Being Religious April Nicole Hobbs The history of Islam’s religions begins with a man by the name of Muhammad. Muhammad is in the city of Mecca in 610 and hears a voice that says “Recite!” The voice called Muhammad the “Most Generous One.” After hearing this voice, Muhammad was clueless, and did not know how to interpret this voice he heard. He actually thought he was slightly delusional. Muhammad’s wife, Khadija, believed there was an actual meaning behind this voice her husband previously heard. They went to Khadija’s cousin, Waraqa ibn Qusayy, who believed this voice was from God, telling Muhammad that he has been selected to serve as a prophet. “The Night of Power and Excellence” refers to the night in which Muhammad was informed that he was to be a prophet to his people. This night started revelations that can be seen in the book called “The recitation”, which is most known for being called the Qur’an. Once people heard about Muhammad being a prophet, he was widely accepted by his people. He is
