Chem 1010 Spring, 2010 EXAM I STUDY GUIDE Exam date is: February 19, 2010, at 2:15 PM. Rooms will be announced in class. Material will cover Chapters 1 to 4 of Silberberg. Bring your calculator. There will be 6 questions /problems. You will be given: PT, Tables 4.1 and 4.3. You should know content of Tables 2.3, 2.5, 2.6, Skills: Name compounds, identify types of reaction, balance reactions (redox in particular), calculate mass percent of compounds, find limiting reagent and calculate per cent yield given actual yield. Also understand moles and molarity for solution experiments, titrations with acid-base and redox reactions.

For Ch. 1 focus on key term definitions in 1.5 and 1.6 only. 3. Problems will be similar to examples worked out in class and in homework assignments. 4. Significant figure rules will count: points will be taken off for errors in significant figures. 5. Full equations should specify state of matter, where this is known or given. 6.
