Axia College Material Appendix E Critical Analysis Forms Fill out one form for each source. Source 1 Title and Citation: Gun control is Constitutional. Melissa Huelsman. The Commentator, the school news paper for the Southwestern School of Law in Los Angeles. 1 Identify the principal issue presented by the source. The need for an increase in gun control. 2 Identify any examples of bias presented by the author. If none exist, explain how you determined this. So far as I can tell none exists. The author dose a very good job of supporting her topic with fact, and statistic. 3 Identify any areas that are vague or ambiguous. If none exist, explain how you determined this. None exist. Again every point this author made was supported heavily by fact and statistic. 4 Do you find the source credible? Explain your reasoning. I did find the source creditable. One of my personal criteria for creditability is to present your ideas through universally accepted perspective. This author presented every one of her thoughts through some one else. For example her entire opening paragraph comes from information that the ATF has compiled. 5 Identify and name any rhetorical devices used by the author. If none exist, explain how you determined this. In the final paragraph the author uses apostrophe. Throughout the Article the author is fairly dry and presents a lot of facts. In the last paragraph however she turns her direction to the action of three specific groups parents, us as a society, and Americans. 6 Identify and name any fallacies used by the author. If none exist, explain how you determined this. Fallacy of false Cause. Now this is open for interpretation but I feel that the conclusions that are drawn through the facts and statistics might be probable this dose not 100% prove the author’s point. 7 State one argument made by the author. The Second Amendment needs to be amended. 8 Identify the premises and conclusion of the argument. The premises for this are many other amendments have been amended, and the amending of the Second Amendment will contribute to the overall safety of all. CRT 205
