1910 in the west, fulfillment theory held that the Christian task should not so much try to convert, but rather incuse Christian values into Indian society. (basically C in India should be Indian in culture) ( inculturation) In 1947 this was the independence of India. There were cries for the church to become more Indian, so the denominational boundaries that foreign missionaries had drawn were dissolved and angicans, congrigationalists, Methodists joined together to form the church of south India. Baptists, Anabaptists, Lutherans, and free church ppl retained their denominational identities, so did the communities that traced their origin to st. Thomas.   Some hindu nationalists view Indian Christians as belonging to a foreign power and hindu hostilities continue to strenghthen. There are approx. 50mill Cs in India of those that r counted, and catholics hold the majority. Week 16 Ethiopian
