Erikson’s Timeline 2 According to Erikson there are eight stages of life. They are infancy, early childhood, childhood (play age), childhood (school age), adolescents and young adulthood, adulthood, mature adulthood, and old age. I may only be 22 (soon to be 23) years old but I believe that psychologically I am in the adulthood portion of my life. I have answered the questions “Who am I?” and “How do I fit into society?” about two years ago and now I am psychosocially ready to begin the sixth stage of life, intimacy verses isolation. I am at a point in my life where I am dating and it can be difficult, so I ask myself “How can I love?” The relationships between the two stages are complex and many people define themselves through intimate relationships with others; and the proper sequence of the stages can be reversed in many people. “It is suggested that women’s lives in American society have
