Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, University of California, San Diego CHEM 6BL Course Instructor: Dr. S. Berniolles Page 1 CHEM 6BL “Full Paper” Laboratory Report Writing Guide: Experiments 4A-C JOURNAL ARTICLE REFERENCE: “ORGANOMETALLICS” PAPER POSTED ON WEBCT Specific instructions on what to include and how to write a lab report are available in the “Laboratory Notebook and Laboratory Report Writing Guidelines” section included in the CHEM 6BL Online Lab Manual Introduction. A laboratory report writing guide is also available on WebCT, which provides useful information on the lab report format requirements in this laboratory class. The Excel Graphing Guide posted on WebCT provides specific graphing instructions for each relevant experiment. Full “Paper” Report Formatting Guidelines The "full paper" report for Experiments #4A-C MUST be typed up. This paper is not being graded (directly) on its length. Focus on the quality of content rather than the length of your report. Cover page: Include a cover page with your title, the date, your name, your TA's name, and your lab section #. The title should be specific and descriptive of the experiment. Font size: 12 points Paragraph spacing: Single-spaced or 1 and 1/2-spaced Margins: Standard page margins Columns: Unlike the sample “Organometallics” paper posted on WebCT, you do NOT need to write your report in two columns! Your "full paper" report for Experiments #4A- C should just be a single-column write-up, as in any other regular lab report. Page Numbers:
