Naming things and people (e.g., juice ) 2. Actions or events (e.g., give ) 3. Modifying or describing things (e.g., dirty ) 4. Personal or social words (e.g., bye-bye ) b) Provide your own set of sub-categories that could be used to further divide the first set – “Naming things and people”. Write your new sub-category labels as well as the items that would fall into each of your categories. c) During this one-word-stage, English speaking babies typically produce more words in the “Naming things and people” set than in the “Actions or events” set. Why can we not conclude at the one-word-stage that noun-concepts are easier to learn than verb-concepts? 2. (6 points) For parts (a) – (h) decide if each of the overextensions is generally based on shape, movement, sound, taste, size or texture.
