Chapter 1 (1-4). What is the primary difference between the priorities of the marketing and sales functions? Marketing leads the company strategically by determining the products to sell, markets the ways or promotion of the products that are sold, as well as set the price at which to sell. The difference sales is solely responsible for what is sold. (1-8). What is the primary reason for separating the product and support engineering and development engineering groups? Support engineering is a field that focuses on complex engineering projects and how these projects should be designed and managed. Support engineering deals with the all aspects of maintenance, repair and support of systems and products to ensure continued operation or functioning of the systems products. Oft-times there is conflict between these two groups due to the fact that the product and support group is the focal point for requesting and implementing changes that improve efficiency, decrease costs, and maintain or improve quality levels. All requests for product changes go through and are deeply explored possibly approve and implemented. 1-9 What is the primary difference between a research project and a product development project? A research activity is a pursuit or study for which the end result is not a particular system
