The aims of these works are various and concern essentially roughness determination, cutting force estimation, chip geometry prediction and form defect evaluation. It is difficult to classify the different studies but three main groups can be defined: - experimental approaches, - kinematic and dynamic approaches, - artificial intelligence approaches. Many researchers have focused theirs works on roughness optimization, using experimental studies and artificial intelligent approaches. The surface response methodology (SRM) was employed to evaluate the impact of feed rate, cutting speed and depth of cut, on the roughness. However, it is difficult to enhance the provided models with mechanical knowledge and to integrate non-contiguous parameters, like the machining path, for example.
