The locating scheme is illustrated by boxes that indicated which directions the locators constrain the assembly. Figure 1 also shows the complete assembly and a section cut of the complete assembly at contact surface 4. The simulation case has been analyzed using the FEA software ABAQUS Standard and MATLAB has been used to analyze and run the simulations. Material for all parts is steel with an elastic modulus E = 210 GPa and Poisson ratio = 0.3. The parts have been modeled by triangular and square shell elements S3 and S4 (ABAQUS). The complete assembly consists of approximately 12500 elements. 3.1. Inspection data Inspection data for the assembly was collected over a time period of six months.
