Unformatted text preview: such technology are: the difficulty to acquire high reflecting surfaces, the accuracy of the measurement that is in the range of 0.1 mm and the need of multiple acquisition for the representation of the complete object shape; however, we have experienced that in several practical applications the advantages of the use of such a tools outweigh the disadvantages. The method we suggest is based on the use of a CAD product model that encapsulates the tolerance specifications as geometry attributes within the model data structure. The traditional information about GT specifications is integrated with the rules and the procedures to be used to verify GT according to the international standards recommendations. This enriched CAD model, which we call Full of Information (FoI) model, becomes the master model to drive the inspection of the measured data. As mentioned earlier, in order to acquire the 3D shape of the manufactured object we propose to use optical acquisition systems. The output of such a systems is the virtual representation of the 3D shape given in terms of points cloud data.
