In 1995 International Standard Organization (ISO) published a technical report [ISO/TR14638, 1995] on the Geometrical Product Specification giving an overview of the international standardization including the existing and future standards. On the basis of such document the ISO Technical Committee 213 started the Geometrical Product Specifications and Verification (GPS) project, aiming to a new technological system in the field of geometrical control of manufactured parts.
