This work shows a method to design the optimal locators positioning that minimises the position error of a holes pattern due to the inaccuracy of the fixture configuration. In a previous paper [Armillotta et al., 1996], a method for checking deterministic positioning from locator configuration was proposed. Besides detecting positioning incorrectness, it derives an explanation of singularity reasons, in order to ease the redesign of a wrong fixture.
