The present paper describes the proposed methodology and the preliminary results. Possible future developments are also discussed in the conclusions of the paper. 2. PREVIOUS WORK In these last years the ISO/TC 213 (Dimensional and Geometrical Product Specifications and Verification) has been carrying out a meaningful work to rethink procedures and standards related to the tolerancing problem. In particular, they have identified a set of rules showing the correspondence between processes of tolerance specification and tolerance inspection. This is leading to studies aimed at harmonizing these two processes, as in the case of the definition of the “duality principle” [Srinivasan, 2003].
