Beside of the geometrical affinity between standard and workpiece the measurement conditions shall be equal during the measurements, e.g. used material, temperatures and applied measurement strategy. The definition of the features to be measured at the working standard and the orientation of the standard within the measuring volume of the CMM are arbitrary. The feature specific measurement uncertainty is experimentally determined and includes all influences, which impact the measurement process on series workpieces. The GUM [GUM, 1995] outlines the necessary steps for the correct calculation of measurement uncertainties. The following methods are in accordance to GUM: • Uncertainty budget [ISO 14253-2, 1999] • Simulation [VDI 2617-7, 2006; ISO/CD 15530-4, 2006] • Uncertainty estimation with calibrated workpieces [ISO 15530, 2000] 2.2.
