The Superfund program is the name used for hazardous waste sites that were abandoned, and created by an act of the US government in 1980. This is a complex waste clean up process. The EPA has the authority to enforce the clean up of a superfund site, and to make sure the responsible parties of the contamination, finance the clean up. There are a total of two superfund sites within my municipality. They are the Ciba Geigy Corp Site, which was a chemical facility and Reich Farm, which was leased to an independent waste hauler by the owners of the farm. The Ciba Geigy Corp. operated the site from 1952-1990. At this site they made dyes, pigments, resins, and epoxy additives. The sources of contamination are from a stacked drum area of approximately 35,000 drums, and a 12-acre filter cake disposal area. The stack drum area
