Making Figures You will most likely want to make bar graphs or a line graphs How to make a simple bar graph in Excel: 1. Open Excel 2. Type in the names of your variables (put name in the first cell of each column) 3. In the second cell of each column, type in what you would expect the mean for that group to be Pre-Treatment Post-Treatment 120 60 4. Click on “insert” in the tool bar, and then “chart” 5. Select “column” and hit “next” 6. Select the cells for your data range (“in columns” should be selected). Alternatively, if you select (highlight) the data and data labels before selecting “insert chart,” excel should automatically chart the data appropriately. 7. Look at the preview to see if it looks correct, and then click next 8. Click on the “titles” tab, and add appropriate axis titles. Your figure title will go in the caption associated with the figure (in a separate page of your proposal). 9.
