Format eatures Document-production conventions Whats the hidden message? the subtext? There are reasons for the rules. Some have to do with how the documents will be handled. Some have to do with how the documents will be read . Readers have different purposes Some will be looking or a specifc piece o inormation Some will be trying to get a general sense o whats in the document In other words, Some readers will scan your document. What might they want and need to see? Some readers will skim your document. What might they want and need to see? Realistically... No one reads technical documents for fun. Every reader is reading for a practical purpose. Few readers actually read thoroughly but those who do want everything laid out clearly, accurately, and in the most accessible way possible....
