Arthur L. Stone PSYC 305 Assignment – Week 1 Case Incident 1 1. A majority of managers err in selecting the right leadership approach because their habits are conditioned to norms of their prior position; being supervised. It is a very difficult transition to take on the role of a manager when the people you now manage were previously your peers, sharing conversation about the management you were not a part of, before. Now, a whole new set of rules apply to the position. There is more authority placed in the hands of the new manager, little time to adapt to the transition, and demands of the business environment that will continue to move, regardless of new manager’s level of adaptability. As a result, the growth into a mature manager is hasted along with many errors along the way. Examples may include failing to understand the full scope of responsibilities their position holds, the process of handling employee problems at the lowest level, and integrating new concepts that fall in line with the overall values of the
