Gabi Drusinsky, 994727868 March 8 th , 2010 Assignment #7 Sacred Harp Tour! We’re about to enter a Sacred Harp singing – this is, personally, my favorite part of the tour. We’re just going to sneak in through the back as to not be too disturbing, but chances are they will welcome us and even ask if we want to join – I encourage anyone who is interested to go ahead and join them! It is simply an ‘a capella’ type of communal singing of sacred music for which anyone is welcome to join, despite their background in music or singing. This is a very unique experience and everyone here should try it! Even those who are not music-literate or don’t have any sort of background in singing can join – the music is written in a system called “shape-notes,” in which the different notes are written in different shapes to make it easier to learn quickly. There are also only four different kinds of shapes used to help you find the relationship between the notes, which makes it even easier for newcomers. So you should try it
