Microsoft Access for Office 2007 Assignment #6 Open YourTown Changes in Tables are automatically made to the Queries on which they are based. 1. Warren Buffett has decided to adopt each of us so that he can distribute his wealth with fewer tax consequences. a. Open Residents and change your last name to Buffett . i. Close Residents table. ii. Open the Residents and Hospitals query. Notice that your name has automatically been changed. 2. We all have become so rich that all our ailments have been cured, and we can go back to just being owners of the place. a. Open Residents and delete your record by right-clicking on the row selector and choosing Delete . b. Close Residents c. Open the Residents and Hospitals Query . Your name should be gone. Let’s do more queries. ... Run a query to find the names of the residents in alphabetic order and what they are treated for. 1. Choose the Create tab / Other / Query Design 2. In the Show Tables window, click to add Residents and Dr Info . 3. Close the Show Table window. 4. In the top half of this window in Residents , double-click on (you may have to resize the box or just scroll through the list) Res First Res Last City 5. In the top half of this window in Dr Info , double-click on Specialty 6. Look at the bottom half of the window and see the names of the rows (along the left side… Field , Tables , Sort , Show , Criteria ). Be sure the Show boxes are checked and these fields will show in the order they appear. (Sometimes you don't want a field to show, but you may want use it for sorting alphabetically.) 7. (run). 9. Close this Query , Save it, and name it Residents by City and Treatment. 10. To save a Query, you could also click on the Windows button in the top left corner of the screen and choose Save As. Run a query to find all the Residents who see a psychiatrist. 1. Create / Other / Query Design 2. Add Residents and Dr Info / close the Show Tables window 3. Double-Click on Res First, Res Last, Specialty 4. On the Criteria row in the Specialty column, type Psychiatry (spelling counts!) 5. Choose the Design tab and click on the ! (run). 6. Look at the list. ...is it really important to have the word “Psychiatry” show? No. It’s just a column filled with the word “psychiatry.” The title of the query is enough of an identifier. 7. Return to Design View of the query by right-clicking the View icon and choosing Design View or by right-clicking on the little “Query 1” tab that is immediately above the data and choosing Design View . 8.
