3 1. What are the causes of stress in Michael’s or Jennifer’s life? How is stress affecting Michael’s or Jennifer’s health? The stressors in Jennifer’s life are as follows: A long commute everyday to the workplace Trying to become pregnant and make a family The decision of having to put her father in a skilled nursing facility against his wishes Her mother dying 2 years prior Her in- laws pushing for a pregnancy though she just miscarried 8 months prior Knowing that everyone at her place of employment counts on her to be near perfect everyday and be on point with daily schedules and tasks Stress is affecting Jennifer’s health because it is causing her to have frequent headaches and possibly if she was under this same stress 8 months ago, it could have caused her to miscarry. Jennifer’s stress is affecting her ability to perform her job duties because she can’t concentrate at work and is having inner issues about being a good employee, mother and wife. If this goes on the stress will further affect her health by causing more serious problems rooting from her back pain and headaches. This could cause heart problems or anxiety attacks if not treated properly. There may still be stress from a new marriage, or the in-laws wanting a grandchild even though she has miscarried 8 months prior. Jennifer’s father’s health could be an issue along with the death of her mother. 2. How are these stressors affecting Michael’s or Jennifer’s self-concept and self-esteem?

4 3. Jennifer’s self-concept and self-esteem are being lowered by the stressors. Jennifer’s self-concept is being lowered because of the fact that her father has to be put n a nursing facility against his will or wishes and feels guilty because of this. Jennifer’s in-laws can also be the cause of her low self-concept by pushing for a grandchild so soon after she has miscarried. The thoughts of the miscarriage can be very hard on a woman. Woman that have a hard time becoming pregnant sometimes feel as if they are not a woman at all and have issues with this. Jennifer’s work can be bringing down her self-esteem because she is starting to make mistakes and feels that she may be letting her co-workers down. The pride she has in not letting anyone down can make her feel worth less when she does let someone down. Jennifer may still be dealing with the death of her mother as well as her father’s deteriorating health. 4.
