Causes inflation South does not back paper currency with goldor silver, north does, south does not have confidence in currency, north has advantage Nature of War Modern war and new technology Trench warfare Building to protect yourself New technologies Better weapons Railroads were first used to transport troops and materials Transportation is greatly used Mass produced weapons Guns were traditionally made one at a time In 1840, Samuel Colt figure out how to mass produce weapons Up until war of 1812, muskets were the primary weapon
