Describe the "levels of evidence" and provide an example of the type of practice change that could result from each. Health care workers are encouraged to find the highest level of evidence when answering clinical questions. Evidence-based practice is a search for and critical appraisal of the most recent evidence to answer a burning clinical question. When assessing evidence-based research articles, it is crucial to take into consideration the quality of the research, in order to refer to the best quality information (NOVA, n.d.). There is a total of seven levels of evidence that grade the strength or quality of evidence generated from a research study. Knowledge of evidence-based practice process and levels of evidence is important for every clinician for a strong analysis of their studies and reports as well as the degree of emphasis they need to place on specific studies when making important patient treatment decisions.
