INTERMEDIARY SANTUTIONS AND COUMMUNITY CORRECTIONS 2 Intermediary Sanctions and Community Corrections When youths are held responsible for their actions Intermediate Interventions are the way of doing things in a more prohibitive way. Juveniles that continue to follow the path of intermediate interventions for those juveniles who have committed very serious crimes, and those who need serious counseling without being incarcerated. Intermediate sanctions have both positive and negative sides. Being observant about social control has several negative drawbacks. One thing is that it is extremely expensive to place juveniles in prisons that already have a problem with over crowding. Next by placing those criminal in facilities other than there home has shown no good results due to the environment that there is surroundings that is unlike their home making it hard to change their conduct and

Last, it has been shown in studies that increased numbers in the correctional facility has declined because juvenile offenders are allowed to go back to their old surroundings, which is where they became in trouble first. On a positive note intermediate sanctions incorporate, drug treatment, job training, counseling for those with anger problems, and while those who are capable of working can have the access to stay in a well-organized environment. Intermediate sanctions are a form of treatment and I feel that it should consist of stricter rules. Many juveniles will take this for granted although many want to improve their life style intermediate sanctions will be affected if this takes place. Just as all other programs have benefits, and concerns community based corrections can be tugged down with certain issues. Due to the amount of youths who are involved with the treatment of drugs and alcohol this program is more advanced....
