Paul Farmer Looking how tuberculosis and aids changes the culture in Haiti It is not fair because we are so medically advanced and they have none MDR is the drug resistant strain for tuberculosis – Multi drug resistant tuberculosis They start to feel better and stop taking drugs- but then the drug mutates and becomes resistant to the medication- what is left in your system is the strong ones – disease comes back worse than before. Dots- protocol for treating regular tb MDR is a huge problem because when you pass it on to someone else then they automatically have MDR. Now the only tb that is left is MDR and they cannot afford the drugs to cure it. Those who have it are not getting better so more and more people get it. Cost effectiveness – give treatment to the people who looked like they had a chance -if you don’t have enough money then treat the most people with the cheapest drug and accept that some people will die -in the end, they decided to only give the MDR
