Axia College Material Appendix C The Four Functions of Management Description of Event A time when I had a management task was in my current position with my employer. I was transferred from Richmond, VA to Charleston, SC to head up the collections for a bank credit card project. When I started the project I was given the task of running and putting together a business plan for collecting credit cards and maintaining a low roll rate percentage. A roll rate percentage is the percentage of accounts that continue to be in collections after every 30 days. I had to come up with a plan to lower the roll rate percentages as well as make a profit for the company. In the table below, categorize your actions during the event under each of the four functions of management. Planning Organizing The process that I used first to create a business model is the brainstorming process, in which I decided what schedule or schedules would be best for collections. Having years of collections experience I knew that prime-time hours were the best times to call customers to collect past due balances. Prime time hours are defined as 8am to 11am and 6pm to 9pm
