In Washington on July 22, 2010, the white house is t rying to compromise with the Senate Republicans to approve a new arms t reaty w ith Russia before the election in November. The t reaty will modernize t he nuclear arsenal and make additional guarantees about missile defense. The White House pressed allies in Congress in recent days to approve billions of dollars for the nation’s current nuclear weapons and i nfrastructure even as administration and Congressional officials work on a ratification resolution intended to reaffi rm that the t reaty will not s top American missile defense plans. I I. I think that this is good for upgrading our weapons, but I think that it is unnecessary because i t will waste billions of dollars that our country desperately needs in this time.
