Chapter 11 Cell Sexting- cell mating with secretion of chemical signal called a factor , binding to recipient’s receptor Signal Transduction Pathway- cell surface signal conversion to cellular response Gap Junctions/Plasmodesmata- surface contact of adjacent cells, causing cell interaction Cell-Cell Recognition- crucial direct contact of membrane-bound surface molecules between two cells, esp. in immune system Local Regulators- messenger molecules secreted by signaling cell for short-distance travel a. Growth Factors- in animals, are compounds that stimulate growth for nearby cells b. Paracrine Signaling- multiple cells receiving and responding to a signal simultaneously c. Synaptic Signaling- electric signal along nerve cell triggering chem. signal secretion as neurotransmitter molecules Hormones- present in both plants and animals, is used for long-distance signaling a. Endocrine Signaling- in animals, for hormone secretion into circulatory system for target cells throughout the body b. Growth Regulators- plant hormones that travel in vessels but move thru cells or diffusion to air as gas to reach target c. Mutli-Synaptic Signaling- electric signal along nerve cell converted to chemical signal in synapse, converted into electric signal again, so on and so forth…conversion allows for long distance signaling

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
