1 Konstantinou / ENGL146: Seeing the Present / SPRING 2020 CLOSE READING PROMPT Paper Overview: The goal of this close reading paper is to examine the way that artists use graphic narratives to tell a story, make an argument, or comment on the world. Your primary source of evidence for your argument will be the text itself, though you are allowed to use outside sources if you want to. Final Due Date: FRIDAY, MARCH 13, 2020, 11:59 p.m. Delivery method: Upload your paper to ELMS as a DOC, DOCX, PDF, or RTF. Format: 5-6 pp. (1,500-1,800 words [not including the image or passage you are analyzing]); 1” margins; 12-point Times New Roman font; double-spaced; black text against a white background. Required information: Your paper should include the following: A reproduction of the page or passage you are analyzing on the first page of your paper, so that we can easily refer back to it. The image quality doesn’t have to be high; you can take a photo of your chosen page with your phone. The text of the page or passage doesn’t count toward the total word count. The word count of the paper (not including the initial passage) at the end of the paper. An original title that gives a sense of the topic of your paper. You can include this on a title page or at the top of the paper on the first page. Your title should be simultaneously informative and not boring. Page numbers on each page.
